Derren Brown: Magic and the Meaning of Life

Derren Brown is probably the most celebrated mind-reader alive today. He has had multiple touring theatre shows and TV specials in the UK and a recent run off Broadway. He spends a great deal of time thinking about how people think which has offered him some insights into how the mind works. That insight can be used to amaze, but also be applied to our everyday psychology.

Last time on Magic Tonight

One of the things I enjoy most about Magic Tonight is the rich variety of performers we have in the city who appear on the show. Last week, I had the chance to see a new double-act forming: The Sentimentalists. The always-creepy Mysterion has teemed up with Steffi Kay (who came fabulously colour coordinated to our venue) to demonstrate some two-person mind reading or what has become known, for historical reasons, as "second sight".

Magic Tonight continues Sunday nights in Toronto at the Crimson Lounge. Readers of this blog can use the code reality for a discount on the price of tickets and dinner when purchasing online.

This week on Magic Tonight

I'm starting to get excited. We're coming close to two years of doing weekly shows here in Toronto. This Sunday night at the Crimson Lounge, my dear friend, the adorably charming and lovable Ben Train will be joining me for an evening of mind reading, mystery and unusual socks. We're downtown at 292 College Street (2nd floor, less than a block from Spadina). We hope you can join us. Update: We're nearly sold out, so if you would like tickets rush over to www.MagicTonight.ca/tickets. I'm also incredibly excited to figure out who won the photoshop contest Ben posted earlier this month.

This week on Magic Tonight

This week's show (which is un/fortunately sold out) features the special guest mind reading of Ron Guttman. Ron performs some rather astonishing interactive explorations of clairvoyance, divination, prognostication and jiggery-pokery. He's been a guest on the show a few times before. Unfortunately, we can't accommodate any more guests for this Sunday's show, but tickets for future events are available at www.MagicTonight.ca/tickets. We were treated to a performance from the Barefoot Prophet, Paul Pacific. It's getting colder and on this occasion, we saw Paul perform fully shoed - a rare occurrence indeed! It will come as no surprise to anyone that I was wearing shoes while I performed but no one seemed unduly concerned. If you want to come to one of our upcoming shows, tickets are available online. Readers of this blog can use the code secrets for an additional discount on checkout. Check to see who's performing next at www.magictonight.ca and try and join us for our special CFI Fundraiser on December 21.
