Five Academy

This week on Magic Tonight

This weekend, my special guest on the show is none other than the adorable Ben Train. Most of the time, Ben is a creator of magic (which is the phrase magicians use to excuse the fact that they spend a lot of time alone in a room playing with cards wearing their pyjamas) and the director of Five Academy, which produces resources for magicians to learn new tricks and generally amuse themselves online. Ben has been on the show many times. Recently, he hosted the show when I performed along with Phil Pivnick. There, he gave me what is quite possibly the worst introduction possible. I had to work a little bit to convince the audience that I was not some mysterious psychotic serial rapist (which is really hard when you're performing a magic act with rope, duct tape and a stuffed rainbow unicorn!) So for those curious to see how I plan to get back at Ben this weekend, come join us.

Magic Tonight is continuing every Sunday through the Summer. Readers of this blog can use the code reality for a discount on the price of tickets and dinner when purchasing online.

This Sunday on Magic Tonight

This Sunday's Magic Tonight features a very special guest and most dear friend; Ben Train. Ben rarely ever performs for the public. He spends most of his time consulting and creating magic for other magicians. He is the co-founder of Five Academy, which produces instructional resources for magicians around the world. He's also given numerous talks for magic societies across Canada, the US and parts of Europe. We're eager to see what super secret stuffs he's been working on! Sunday, December 28 at 7:00 PM. Come early for dinner at 6:00. Tickets are $20 online at www.magictonight.ca.

We're upstairs in the Crimson Lounge at 292 College Street right near Spadina.

A Series of Unfortunate Effects

A few years ago, I found out about a strange magic project; a hybrid between a magic instructional video and normal human movie. (Both magic instructional videos and normal human movies have a rich history, but so far as we've been able to figure, the twain have not previously met.) Finally, the project has been shot, edited, package and the producers are having a public screening at the end of this month. Series_Poster_PROMO(17x24)-2 copy

A Series of Unfortunate Effects Tuesday, April 29, 2014 @ 7:00 PM The Revue Cinema (400 Roncesvalles)

Tickets are available from FiveAcademyMagic.com. You can also head there to Pre-Order the DVD.

I won't actually be at the screening, since it's the same night as Magic@theCage, but we are hosting the after party at The Cage, so I'll be there for that. The interesting part is that almost all of the cast has performed at The Cage at one point or another including Chris Mayhew, Ben Train, Chris Westfall, Jeff Hinchliffe and Canadian Magician of the Year Bill Abbott. We'll see how many of them we can talk into performing, possibly while drunk.

It's also the night before Vincent Hedan's show, The Wish, so make sure you have your tickets for that as well.
