Happy Thanksgiving

Tonight we have no Magic Tonight. It's thanksgiving weekend here in Canada and my mother (who wields magical powers that rival my own) has refuted my presence at a family dinner, so for those that were itching to get out to see a magic show tonight, you'll have to wait till next week. Thursday night at the Franklin House we had a sold out show with my delightful special guest, Ben Train. Rather than share the photos of that performance, I'll share one photo which has become the subject of a fun little Facebook contest:

I pointed out that Mr. Train resembled The Emperor from Star Wars:

This prompted Ben to start a contest to see who could accomplish the best photoshoppery along this theme. Here are the results so far:

We have no idea when the contest closes or how the winner will be judged, but feel free to send submissions to Ben@bentrain.ca.

Of course, if you want to work with a more attractive subject, you can work with Ben's normal photos:

Magic Tonight will be back next week. Readers of this blog can use the code reality for a discount on the price of tickets and dinner when purchasing online.

The Irritatingly Photogenic Keith Brown

Last week on Magic Tonight was a week of Keith Brown. Back from a tour of Fringe festivals which took him across most of Canada and parts of the US. We had two sold out shows, one at the Franklin House in Streetsville and another at the Crimson Lounge in Toronto. If you missed the shows, you can take a peek at what you missed. We have tickets available for our upcoming shows through the end of November. Readers of this blog can use the code reality for a discount on the price of tickets and dinner when purchasing online.

Last week on Magic Tonight, we had two new guest performers, never before seen on the show. Ryan Brown is a sleight of hand manipulator, which requires countless hours of practice locked inside a room, which explains his lack of a tan. He's the winner of the "Toronto's Best Magician Contest" and also "Mississauga's Got Talent". How someone can win both is a mystery that legal scholars will continue to debate for centuries.

Zack Mirza is the star of Illusions of Grandeur* which is currently airing on CityTV. The audience had the chance to see what he could do up close and personal.

Thank you to everyone who attended our sold out shows this weekend. This week's shows are already sold out (again, thank you). We've opened up a block of new shows and tickets are now available for dates through the end of November. Readers of this blog can use the code reality for a discount when booking online.

If you didn't get a chance to see the show, take a tiny peek at what you missed:

*Which has nothing to do with our show Illusions of Grandeur from 2013. Our title made more sense but Zack and I have kissed** and made up.

**Metaphorically speaking. I don't think he's into that sort of thing. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Last week on Magic Tonight

Last night on Magic Tonight at the Crimson Lounge, we were joined by the inimitably creepy Nick Wallace. He was in town preparing for Seance, which will be appearing at Theatre Passe-Murraille later this month. If you have a chance to go see it, do. Normally you have to drive out towards Hamilton-Niagara to see him perform so it's a wonderful treat to have him in Toronto. It was a packed house that left us tripping over tables and chairs we had so littler room left. He does a fabulous job of creeping you out while your brain is being melted. And if any of this sounds like hyperbole, it's not.

If you weren't there, take a peek at what you missed. Tickets for our upcoming shows are now available. Readers of this blog can use the code reality for a discount on the price of tickets and dinner when purchasing online.

Last week on Magic Tonight

Last night's show at the Crimson Lounge in Toronto was creepier than usual. Mysterion was in strange form (and of course, I mean that in a good way.) He was corrupting the youth, contacting the dead and just generally weirding people out. I'm not sure if that child actually went home and did his satanic colouring, but we can be on the lookout for dark clouds and bad omens today. We're gearing up for the fall season. Currently all of our shows in Missisauga for September are sold out but we have shows in Toronto with seats available. If you didn't make it to the show last night, take a look at some of what you missed:

Last week on Magic Tonight

It was a show that came from both ends of the spectrum on Sunday night at the Crimson Lounge: Jason Verners is probably the youngest performer we've ever had on the show and Ron Guttman has been reading minds since before either of us were born. We had lots of fun and we need to thank our sold out crowd... in particular the two ladies who took a special interest in the contents of my pockets and weren't afraid to show it.... We're continuing on with tickets available for our shows through the end of September. See who's performing on our site in the coming weeks.
